Open valley logged in the early 1900's, now occupied by extensive shrub and herb wetlands. Upslope is a hummocky Vaccinium community. Downslope are alder stands and a more open type. See plots CVWR.12,14,15,16.;Successional aspen forest with lush forb layer. Lots of dead and down tree trunks. Some pools of standing water have Glyceria and Scirpus, which become dominate in the wetter parts of the stand. Unlike many aspen clones, this one is more linear. May be several clones grown together or constrained by the topography?
Representativeness
Seems typical of a wetter aspen clone. Large patch for this community ( perhaps the biggest seen in WV ). This may be the dryer edge of the stand but it grades to wet in the plot.
